We’re off to SHACKLETON’S MAN GOES SOUTH at London’s Science Museum

8 Apr

Arc’s editor Simon Ings is off to the Science Museum at 6.30pm on Wednesday 24 April to help novelist Tony White celebrate the launch of his new novel Shackleton’s Man Goes South, published as part of the museum’s Contemporary Arts Programme.

Inspired by a little known sf story about climate change written in 1911 by polar explorer and meteorologist George Clarke Simpson, Shackleton’s Man Goes South is the centrepiece of a new exhibition in the Atmosphere Gallery. Simon, Siân Ede and Dr Emma Tompkins join Tony to discuss how science and literature are imagining climate change futures. There’s also a tour of the gallery and a drinks reception afterwards.

Places are limited, so if you want to come along, drop a line to sarah.harvey@sciencemuseum.ac.uk by Monday 15 April.
