@cottonduck asked:
@arcfinity I realize it’s about the future and all, but any insight into how one might be able to get ones hands on the print edition?
A number of other people have asked similar questions, so here’s the answer:
Arc 1.1 is not going to be available on news stands or in bookshops. We did our homework, and concluded that a digital title made more sense than a paper one – at least for the moment. A “glass magazine”, as @simonings calls it.
We’re publishing via Zinio, so it should be readable on iPhones, iPads, Android devices, Windows PCs and Mac computers. We’ll also be putting out a Kindle version. There will be four issues in 2012, each of which will cost $6.99 in the US, £4.99 in the UK and the local equivalent of the US price everywhere else.
But we did want to make a print version available for people who really want one – ourselves, the authors and those who collect such things or want them signed. We plan to use a print-on-demand service, which probably won’t work out to be the cheapest option, but if nothing but the feel of dead tree will do…
So the “limited” print edition will be limited to exactly the number of people who order one. Perhaps that makes it an unlimited version, really.
